More Frankie

Mom and Dad, these are for you.

Apparently getting this splint was the worst part.

Day After...

Today is better; Frankie is handling things well so far. We are back at Grandma and Grandpa's house for another five days before we fly home since we can't move the little guy too much over the next few days while his swelling goes down. I know I was overreacting yesterday, but it was my first ER experience with my kid and I was playing the part of nervous basket-case momma. I will post some pictures as soon as I can convince Juston to send them to me from his iPhone since I know everyone is dying to see Frankie's super chic spica cast!

UPDATE:

pictures. This one is from the hospital bed (obviously.)

And can't you tell he's thrilled to be wheeled to the car?

Sad Day

It's my first trip to the hospital for a child's surgery tonight. I never knew it hurt this much inside, and even though I know everything will be okay and he's not the first kid to fracture his leg, I'm still pulling the whole momma thing. How do you cope with a kid in a half-body cast? He should be playing, not recovering. Anyway, I'll keep you posted, if anyone out there is even reading this anymore.

P.S. Merry Christmas!

A day late and a dollar short. Oh well, Happy Boxing Day!

Harper! Part 2.

Harper in her Christmas jammies that are far too cute to simply be jammies.

Christmas - it's not just Jesus's Birthday!

It's also fun family time and presents. :)

What is Christmas?

Frankie reminds you in the most dramatic way possible.

This is the first video upload from my flip camera. I'll be posting many more in the days to come. Of course, you may feel free to skip them, but I think it's going to be all of the raves with Grandmas this year.

For mom and dad.

Frankie opening the big present! Thanks, Grandma and Grandpa - he LOVES it. Please pay attention to the preschooler and not the annoying lady or the screaming baby in the swing. Thanks. xx

Generic post.

Pictures of Harper, doing her usual baby thing. She likes to hang out and look at stuff. She's really good at it.

You will also notice our abundance of Christmas-themed onesies.

We opened the gifts from my mom and dad yesterday so that Frankie would have a few days to play with his new toys before we skip town. He got a little anxious while we were eating lunch and went into the TV room and started ripping the paper off of his big present. Luckily we heard and stopped him before he got into the box itself.

Peter, a friend of ours who is moving back to Atlanta, is staying with us for a few days and he got Frankie hooked on "Yo Gabba Gabba!" He got Frankie a DVD to feed this new obsession. We've already watched it like four times and it's only been about 30 hours. Heaven help us!

Today I drove Frankie out to the 'burbs to see Santa and his reindeer. Literally it was a reindeer pen in a Whole Foods parking lot, but Frankie was really digging it. He told Santa he wanted a train as well as a big monster truck this time. And in true Whole Foods fashion, they were handing out organic candy canes.

After gazing at the eight tiny wonders and sitting on the man in red's lap, we spent two hours at an indoor McDonalds playland, where I sipped Dr. Pepper and read the December/January edition of Bust while Frankie worked out all of his excess energy. Merry Christmas, indeed!

Us.

Harper. More like Harper's hat and blanket.

Rock out.

Frankie's discovered headphones. He watched a clip from "Frosty the Snowman" on YouTube for about an hour straight with them. Too bad Dad stepped on the headphones the next day and smashed 'em! (They were free, no big loss.) Don't worry, though; someone might be getting a new pair for Christmas.

Botanical Garden & Reindog Parade '09

Can't sleep, might as well blog. I'm gonna be so pooped tomorrow, though! And I should probably go to the gym or something more productive since I think they're open at 5:30 AM, but why would I want to do that?

Here are the pictures from our annual trip to the Botanical Gardens for the Reindog Parade. We don't take Bridget because you have to pay to put your dog in the parade, but it's always fun to see how other people like to humiliate their dogs in public.

The Botanical Garden has the best Santa. Too bad it was freezing and Frankie was too cold to cooperate (he won't cooperate when it comes to wearing a real coat, either, hence the "too cold" part.)

Inside of one of the exhibits, they had a pretty cool train set. Did I say 'inside'? Yep. We stayed in there, where it was really humid, for a really long time. Too bad the rest of us got the sweats and ended up shedding our coats for awhile!

And finally, the payoff - a picture of a dog in costume. This dog won the 'holiday finery' costume contest, dressed as the dog from "How the Grinch Stole Christmas." Its name is Skippy, and Skippy is also paralyzed, so his owners decorated his little wheel-y thing (I have no idea what its called) as a sleigh. It was extremely cute.

You can also see in this photograph that the humans that accompanied Skippy were really committed to the whole 'Grinch' theme.

A fun, yet chilly, time was had by all!

Santa, he's my buddy!

As promised, here are the pictures with Santa from our church Christmas party this past Saturday night.

Frankie, once again, confirms with Santa that he wants a Monster Truck for Christmas. That was news to me earlier that day; glad I found out now instead of on Christmas morning!

Both kids share germs with Santa/Brother Droge.

Harper wants a dry diaper and a really good feed for Christmas. And a pony.

Can't believe this one is already six weeks old. Insane!

Awwwww...

Check out our family. Lots more pictures to come... probably tomorrow once I've finished with grades...including photos with Santa! Wooooo!

Peanut and Fuss Bucket

Yep. Boring blog post - pictures of my kids. What can I say, I run this blog for the grandparents, and it's what they want; no one is interested in my 'extremely insightful' review of the last movie I saw. Also, this is the busiest week of the semester for me, so bear with me until grading is complete. Then things will get good as I've got a lot of fun activities planned for the holidays, capped off with our trip to Utah for a week to play on the farm! Until then, look at these pictures of my children and tell me that they are cute.
