I need recommendations on stuff to do in NYC. You know, places to eat, shop, art, etc. This will be my 4th trip there and I want to try some new things.
I've been there many times, and I always go to the same places b/c they're just so great. Canal street (if you're a shopper - i bought a $500 coach bag for $35), FAO Schwartz (for Frankie), Central Park/Bryant park (if you go during ice skating time), Ferry to Lady Liberty & Island, lots of places. Let me know if you need some more. I don't want to take up your entire comment volume!! Enjoy the Big Apple...it's an incredible city!
One of my favorite restaurants is Chat&Chew. It is around Union Square. They have the BEST mac&cheese I have ever tasted. I think you would really like that place. I am sure you know about TKTS; Half off Broadway Tickets. I always go to a show when I am up there. You can get same day shows for about $50. Supposedly, Manhattan has an awesome Children's Museum if you are taking Frankie. And the Temple is right there by Columbus Circle.
I have to admit I am a little jealous you are heading up there!
I'm going ALONE. I'm so excited. This is my birthday present to myself. I've got some friends there that know the place pretty well so I'm hoping for less of a touristy experience. It's gonna be a blast!
mary. i am headed there alone in a few weeks too to see my sister. love NYC. i agree, the less touristy, the better. last time i was there we went to a great restaurant in the village called the blue ribbon bakery. it was amazing. also, have you ever been to the cloisters? it is a little out of the way but really cool. there is so much to do there but sometimes the best thing is just to wander around. i'll let you know if i think of anything else.
